"colors" by Justin Waldron

Does anyone remember these fabulous billowing rainbow 'tarps' that you'd play with in elementary school? Trying to run underneath it before it fell and surrounded you all? I took one look at this picture and took a serious strut down a lane star-studded with wonderful childhood memories. I often lay in bed and try to re-create it with myself under the sheets. The feeling of cold fabric falling all around you in such a tender enveloping way as if the sheets are actually wrapping their arms around you and hugging you...it's such a solid memory of my childhood, and I try to recreate it as much as possible in the most infantile ways.

On a completely unrelated note (actually, the first note was more unrelated seeing as how this note that seems unrelated to the prior is actually my daily existence and struggle)...let it just be known (dear world), that I will be seriously struggling at kissing major Valentine's Day ass next Saturday seeing as how I'll most likely be working for nine hours waiting on gross couples (and I swear to god if anyone tackily (I know it's not a real word) proposes to someone at one of my tables, I will barf all over them). Love each other every other day, please.

Here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud [Feb 05, 2009 @ 1:41am]

"Dad, Isä 2007" by Tuomas V. Peronvuo

You do not have to be good.
You do not have to walk on your knees
For a hundred miles through the desert, repenting.
You only have to let the soft animal of your body
love what it loves.
Tell me about your despair, yours, and I will tell you mine.
Meanwhile the world goes on.
Meanwhile the sun and the clear pebbles of the rain
are moving across the landscapes,
over the prairies and the deep trees,
the mountains and the rivers.
Meanwhile the wild geese, high in the clean blue air,
are heading home again.
Whoever you are, no matter how lonely,
the world offers itself to your imagination,
calls to you like the wild geese, harsh and exciting --
over and over announcing your place
in the family of things.

- "Wild Geese" by Mary Oliver

What good are songs with no dances? [Oct 26, 2008 @ 2:39am]
So I've never eaten an oyster before, but after tasting some SERIOUS goat cheese bruschetta (ho-made for last night's dinner party), I've discovered a total foodie aphrodisiac.

For safe keeping [Apr 23, 2008 @ 3:45am]
"Many a man fails to become a thinker for the sole reason that his memory is too good," wrote Friedrich Nietzsche. I suggest you contemplate that riddle, Cancerian. Is your ability to stir up new perspectives sometimes hindered by the deep feelings you have about your history? Is it possible that past experiences you've grown to treasure tend to diminish your motivation to reinvent yourself periodically? If so, it's a perfect time to break free of the old days and old ways. Induce a little forgetfulness so that you're more available for the future.

All kinds of headaches [Mar 29, 2008 @ 4:02am]
[ mood | -$ ]

I seem to have a bad habit of scanning things before they're finished. However, my altered book is nearly done. It reeks of coffee, paint, and rubber cement. I'm not tired at all.
